Police are examining it as a "racially spurred" occurrence.

A man was recorded assaulting a Colombian family with a play club and yelling that they were "French psychological militants" and "ISIS" in a Canadian shopping center parking garage in St. Thomas, Ontario, on Thursday.
One of the casualties, Sergio Estepa, was left with a broke rib and expansive wound subsequent to venturing before his 13-year-old child to ensure him, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation revealed.

"He began saying we don't have a place here, that we are communicating in French," said Estepa. "In any case, we were not communicating in French; we were communicating in Spanish. We don't have any acquaintance with him."

Estepa and his precedent-based law accomplice, Mari Zambrano, each moved from Colombia to Canada around 20 years prior, he told CBC.

"Out of nowhere this person begins shouting at us," Estepa said. "He called me a fear monger, that I'm ISIS, I don't have the foggiest idea, perhaps due to my facial hair. Sooner or later he began to charge my child, and I went in front."

The man was captured and accused of irritated ambush and three tallies of attack with a weapon, and has been denied safeguard, CBC revealed.

Estepa's child, Zambrano, and a youthful companion who was with the family were not physically hurt amid the episode.

After this story was first distributed, Estepa revealed to BuzzFeed News he needed to sit tight for "clearness" before consenting to meet in light of the fact that the occurrence was "somewhat mind boggling" as he speculated the man had psychological well-being issues.

"We as a whole are casualties here including him," he disclosed to BuzzFeed News. "We should be more kind with others."

"Just a single individual helped us. It occurred at 4:30, in a shopping center with a film theater and many stores. It's a significant dynamic shopping center," Estepa said. "We were amazed that they imagined that nothing happened."

Police did not promptly react to a demand for more data on Saturday, however disclosed to CBC they were examining the episode as "racially persuaded."

On Twitter, St. Thomas Police Chief Chris Herridge said he had addressed the family and that they were "appreciative 4 the group bolster they have gotten."

"I can guarantee people in general that we will never endure this conduct in St. Thomas!!" composed Herridge.

Sgt. Brian Carnegie disclosed to CBC the assault was a "disengaged and very irritating episode."

"Ideally it stays detached," Carnegie included.


"It's very aggravating for any group, it doesn't mind the group of St. Thomas," said Carnegie. "Not exclusively being a cop in this group however an individual from this group, I'm stunned and offended that something like this would happen."
